A key goal
of Head Start is to help families identify and meet their
goals, nurture the development of their children and advocate
for the community in which they live. This is done within
the context of the family and the culture. Families receive
support in becoming self sufficient by help in identification
of their own strengths, needs, interests and skills which
can be applied toward meeting family goals.
Collaborative relationships with community organizations
promote and improve the delivery of community services
for children and families. An area of special focus is
non-English speaking children and their families. By supporting
the child's primary language we create the foundation
to acquire proficiency in English, thereby enhancing school
readiness.
